IGT also recently won a prize for “Land-Based Gaming Innovation of the Year”at the 2017 Global Gaming Awards.

The G4 organisation was established to develop a global accreditation system for operators and suppliers in the gaming industry. Awards are granted to companies that show commitment and initiative towards tackling problem gambling.

Upon announcing IGT’s accreditation, G4 Director Pieter Remmers commended the supplier for developing and “integrating effective features in its products that assist operators with minimising harm and preventing problem gambling.”

IGT’s CEO, Renato Ascoli, conceded that his company has great responsibility to “create solutions that help our customers protect their players,” adding that IGT aims to provide “innovative technology and services,” along with its gaming operator partners around the world.

We commend IGT for its leadership, and congratulate the Company for being the first vendor to receive G4 accreditation for its land-based casino and lottery segments. Pieter Remmers, G4 Director

G4 identified a range of features implemented into IGT’s software that helped it achieve the award. These included various tools used to remind players of how much time and money they have spent on the game, which pop-up on the game screen at set intervals.

Other features include session limits, staff monitoring for players who show signs of problem gambling, and responsible gaming information screens like treatment referrals, budget-setting suggestions and a self-assessment test.

IGT prides itself as an industry pioneer, and the G4 certification allows us to transparently demonstrate our leadership in this important topic. Renato Ascoli, IGT CEO

G4 is comprised of international experts hailing from the UK, Australia, the Netherlands and Sweden, with strong knowledge on the subjects of responsible gaming and problem gambling.

The award for IGT comes at a time when problem gambling is regularly making headlines in the UK, with the UK Gambling Commission having announced the country is home to more than two million people who are either addicted to gambling or at risk of developing a problem.
